My Current Situation...

So, this is my current situation...

This little chair belonged to me when I was a little girl many, many, moons ago. My mom seriously never throws anything away. So, a few weeks ago she called me and told me that she had this chair and the lounger that matches and asked if I wanted them for my little girl. Of course, I said "Yes", why did I say yes? I thought, at the times, she would just set them aside and I would get them when I was ready and had the free time to actually work on them...WRONG!!!!

Fast forward to about a week ago, she shows up to drop my niece off and pulls these from the back of her car...No time like the present to get started on them. This is going to be an extremely difficult DIY due to the lack of free time I currently posses, the amount of rust I'm dealing with, and the fact that there are lots of twists and hard to reach areas on them. I'm starting with this chair first. Mainly because it's smaller and will determine if I even want to deal with the lounger later. However, I'm excited to do this.

You will see in an upcoming post that my husband took apart my childhood toy box, that was built by my very dear Uncle, and sanded it down and gave it a custom stain job to match my daughter's unique bedroom furniture. Funny, I have a hard time getting him to take the trash, but he spent days trying to match stain for her toy box...he better be glad he's so darn cute! So needless to say, I'm excited about the opportunity to add another little piece of my childhood in the mix!

Wish me luck! I can't wait to share the finished product with you!

Please excuse all the weeds in the background! This has been an unusually RAINY summer in the south!
